ABOUT EYELASH EXTENSIONS
About Eyelash Extensions
Eyelash extensions are a man made fibre that resemble the natural eyelash. They are individually applied to natural eyelashes to make them look longer and thicker. The look can vary from very natural to very extreme, depending on the skill of the technician and the length and thickness of the natural lash.
We use only top grade extensions and glue in our services. Anyone with sensitive eyes is welcome to come in for a patch test free of charge. Please note: We do not refill other technicians extension work. If you have lashes on from elsewhere we will offer half price removal before your new set is applied.
Types of eyelash extensions
There are three main types of extensions, namely mink, synthetic and silk, varying in length and thickness. All are made to resemble the natural eyelash and are light and comfortable to wear.
How long do eyelash extensions last?
As each extension is applied to an individual lash, the extensions can last the time period of the natural growth process of the eyelashes, however as the natural lashes continue to shed and replace themselves at different times, the lashes will look less full after about 2-3 weeks. Maintenance will be required somewhere between 2-4 weeks depending on how quickly the natural lashes shed and this will also vary throughout the year. On average 3 weekly maintenance keeps the extensions looking great.
Can you apply mascara to eyelash extensions?
Normally you do not need to wear mascara as the extensions give the natural lash a much darker, longer and thicker appearance, but if you do choose to wear mascara it must be water based so as not to soften the bonding agent of the glue and reduce the longevity of the extensions. Mascara must always be washed off using a water based eye makeup remover to avoid build up bacteria in the extensions and natural lashes.
How long does it take to apply eyelash extensions?
This will depend entirely on the amount of lashes being applied and the skill of the technician. Most professional technicians will allow 1.5 to 2 hours for your first appointment, and around 1 to 1.5 hours for maintenance but this can vary greatly. If you are having a very natural set applied, around 40 extensions per eye this will normally take just over an hour, where a fuller set of 75+ plus may take closer to 2 hours.
Do eyelash extensions damage your natural lashes?

What measures should you take if glue gets in your eye?
If you go to a skilled technician this will never be an issue. Your eyes should be shut throughout the whole process and protective pads places over the bottom lashes. The extensions should never be stuck onto the skin, only on the natural lash and the base of the extension should be at least 1/2mm away from the skin line. This will avoid glue getting into the eye, but also any reaction from the glue touching the skin.
Is eyelash extension application painful?
This should be quite the opposite. Most people fall asleep during the extension process and look forward to the time out to just lay and relax.
If you do feel any discomfort during the procedure you should notify your technician immediately.
Eyelash Extension Care Tips
Tips on how to take care of your new eyelash extensions
1. Do not rub your eyes or pull at the extensions.
2. Avoid water, steam or humidity for the first 24 hours. The adhesive dries in layers over a 24 hours period using the moisture in the air, so any excessive moisture will make the adhesive cure too quickly causing brittle bonds and the lashes will not last as well.
3. Use only water based mascara and water based cleanser. Always remove mascara to avoid bacteria building up in the extensions and natural lashes.
4. Do not use a mechanical lash curler.
5. Do not get lashes tinted or permed while extensions are on.
